Six Triangle teams to attend USAV Girls’ Junior Nationals
At the final qualifier of Triangle’s competitive season, Triangle 16 Black and 17 Blue, secured the highly sought after bids to USAV Girls’ Junior National Championships in Chicago this summer.
Triangle 16 Black competed in the 16 Open division which is the most competitive division in junior club volleyball. In day one pool play, 16 Black defeated Michio Chicago 16 National to remain in the top half of the draw. On day two, wins over Michigan Elite and Rockwood Thunder guaranteed 16 Black Gold pool placement and the coveted Open bid to USAV nationals. In Gold pool play on day three, 16 Black defeated previously Open-qualified Wave 16-Kevin to finish overall tied for 5th.
Triangle 17 Blue competed in the 17 USA division. With a second place pool finish on day one they remained in the top half. After a tough day two pool, they competed in a challenge match where they defeated Southwest 17 Dan. Day three placed 17 Blue in a sixteen team Gold bracket and a face-off against day two spoiler Michio Chicago 17 National. 17 Blue advanced with a three-set win to play Jax Skyline 17 Royal in what turned out to be a three-set thriller (25-19, 23-25, 15-13). Next up was Pittsburgh Elite whom 17 Blue defeated in straight sets. 17 Blue was defeated in the 17 USA division championship taking second place overall and earning a 17 USA bid to Junior Nationals.
It was a strong qualifier season for Triangle earning bids in the following USAV Girls’ divisions:
- 18 OPEN – Triangle 18 Black
- 17 OPEN – Triangle 17 Black
- 16 OPEN – Triangle 16 Black
- 18 USA – Triangle 18 Blue
- 17 USA – Triangle 17 Blue
- 15 NATIONAL – Triangle 15 Black*
