Gilley, a North Carolina native, has coached at the high school, club and junior college levels for over 15 years. With experience both on the men’s and women’s side of the game, Gilley brings a wealth of knowledge to Triangle. He served as Head Coach for 10 seasons at his alma mater, East Surry High School. He amassed an overall record of 211-51 and led the Lady Cardinals to seven Northwest 1A Conference titles and reached the 1A state championship twice. His success led him to being named the 2019 North Carolina Volleyball Coaches Association’s Class 1A High School Coach of the Year. Gilley also served as a recruiting coordinator while as a club coach and helped over 40 athletes reach their dreams of playing at the next level during a five year span.
Gilley led the Surry Community College Women’s Varsity Volleyball team for three years (2020-2022). He led the Lady Knights to consecutive NJCAA Region 10 Western Division championships in 2021 and 2022.  The Lady Knights also finished ranked in the top 25 in the NJCAA DII Rankings in 2021 and 2022. Under Gilley, three players were named NJCAA All-Americans.
Gilley is also a certified USAV, NFHS, and PAVO official able to officiate club, high school and collegiate level play.
Gilley earned a B.S. in CTE Workforce Leadership & Development at Appalachian State University and his MBA at UNC Pembroke. He was recently named the Senior Director of the Apprenticeship Programs at Wake Technical Community College.
