Peters hails from Michigan where she played four years on the varsity squad at Schoolcraft High School and helped Schoolcraft become the 2008 state champions. Peters (Laing) was named a First Team All-State selection in 2008 and 2009 and won the National Women in Sports Day Leadership Award in 2009. Upon graduation in 2010 she was recruited to University of Georgia (DI) where she played two seasons as a defensive specialist. She transferred to Grand Valley State University (DII) for her junior and senior years. At GVSU, Peters (Laing) played in 22 matches before an injury sidelined her for her senior season. She graduated in 2014 with a B.S. in Clinical Exercise Science. Peters first came to North Carolina to pursue her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Duke University.

Peters has nine years of junior club coaching experience coaching teams ranging from 11U to 15U. She began coaching in 2012 at MVA Volleyball Club and coached while earning her DPT at NC Elite in Raleigh. She moved to Florida and while there she coached at Pinellas Heat Volleyball in Clearwater, Fl. She returned to North Carolina and most recently coached at NC Elite.

Peters and her husband Scott live in Raleigh with their golden retriever Diesel. She is a PT, DPT at Brookdale Home Health.
