McGuire hails from Northern California and played for Saint Francis High School. McGuire guided her team to the State Championship, Norcal championship, CCS championship and West Catholic League Championship in 2010. They repeated the CCS Championship in 2011. McGuire played club beginning at 9 years of age and played at the setter position for the renowned Vision Volleyball Club. Her team won a Gold Medal at the 2009 USAV Junior National Championships and she was the team captain of the Northern California High Performance team.

McGuire was recruited to set for UC Riverside [D1]. After an injury sidelined her she transferred to The University of Tulsa [D1] where she played her junior and senior seasons. She was named to the AAC All-Academic team in both 2014 and 2015. She graduated with degrees in Communications and Psychology. She has volleyball head and assistant coaching experience at the club, beach, and prep levels including time at Rancho Valley (CA), Synergy (PA) and West Coast Beach.

In 2021, McGuire coached JV and assisted varsity at Apex Friendship HS where varsity made it to the 3rd round of the state playoffs.

In 2022, McGuire coached 16 Black to a Big South Open victory and triple qualified for USAV while they also finished the season as one of six top seeded teams at USAV Open Nationals. 16 Black was also inducted into the North Carolina Volleyball Hall of Fame’s Court of Honor as a team that achieved regional and national recognition for significant results. 

In 2023, McGuire assisted 17 Black where the team went on to triple qualify for USAV Open Nationals. 17 Black finished top 5 at all four qualifiers they competed in, top 10 finish at Triple Crown, and 5th at USAV 17 Open Nationals. In addition, Triangle 17 Black had 5 players named to the JVA All-National Team.

McGuire continued coaching at the high school level at Millbrook High School where she helped lead the varsity team to a NCHSAA 4A State Volleyball Championship with a team overall record of 29-1.

McGuire relocated to Raleigh and is married to Jake McGuire, a professional soccer goalkeeper. Prior to Raleigh they were in Sweden where her husband played internationally for two years.
