Kearney joins the Triangle coaching staff, starting with the 2020 season, after retiring from her decorated playing career. She hails from League City, Texas and has been playing volleyball since she was 10 years old. She attended Clear Falls High School and was a three-year varsity letterwinner with the volleyball program as a libero/defensive specialist. She received a bevy of prep accolades, including three-time First Team All-District, Texas Association of Volleyball Coaches 6A All-State team, First Team All-County honors and 24-6A Defensive Player of the Year as a senior.

Kearney also competed for Houston Stellar Volleyball Club, and was a Greater Houston Volleyball Coaches Association First Team and East All-Star Team selection. She helped her club team to the Texas Regional Finals in 2017 and helped them qualify for nationals three times. She capped off her prep career with national recognition from PrepVolleyball.com as a Defensive Dandy, and was named a 2018 Under Armour Honorable Mention All-America selection in 2018.

Kearney competed for two years at NC State University, bringing her tough and gritty determination to help the backrow. She ended her collegiate playing career early due to injury and now looks to stay involved in the sport she loves via coaching. She working on her undergraduate business degree with a minor in environmental science.
