Vanderhorst is a former Triangle player (2015-2019) playing her 12s through 16s seasons. After a season-ending ACL injury, Vanderhorst recovered and was recruited as a setter to UNC-Pembroke. She ended up transferring to Cape Fear Community College where she played her sophomore season as a setter and opposite hitter. She finished her career with the Sea Devils with 462 assists. She graduated with her Associates degree.
While attending Cape Fear CC, Vanderhorst head coached at East Coast Volleyball Academy both indoor and beach.
Vanderhorst returned to the triangle area to attend NC State University.
