Alissa McGuire honored as AVCA 30 Under 30 Club Coach

Apr 22, 2025

We are thrilled to announce that Alissa McGuire—Head Coach of Triangle 17 Black and Assistant Director at Triangle Volleyball Club—has been recognized as an AVCA Thirty Under 30 Club Coach honoree. This prestigious award highlights rising coaching talent across the country, honoring individuals who serve as head coaches, assistant coaches, and club directors. These passionate leaders are dedicated to growing the sport and creating meaningful opportunities for youth development in the club volleyball space.

Alissa’s journey in volleyball began as a standout player at the nationally renowned Vision Volleyball Club. She was recruited to play at UC Riverside and completed her collegiate career at the University of Tulsa. While sidelined by injury in college, Alissa gained a new perspective on the game—one that ignited her passion for coaching.
Before joining Triangle in 2021, Alissa coached at Synergy Volleyball Club. Since then, she has had a tremendous impact, particularly on the development of setters throughout the club. For the past two seasons, she has led Triangle 17 Black, guiding her 2024 team to a third-place finish at the Big South National Qualifier where they earned a bid to the prestigious Open division at USAV nationals. Her 2025 squad is talented and currently ranked 41st in the nation by PrepVolleyball.com.

Alissa’s coaching focus is on preparing athletes for the demands of the collegiate playing experience while also nurturing and maintaining long-standing relationships with her athletes. She notes, “Volleyball is filled with teaching moments in both times of team success and failure. I will always encourage my athletes to always compete and learn to win together.”

We’re proud to celebrate Alissa’s achievements and are grateful for the energy, expertise, and leadership she brings to Triangle.
